Gazette Gal

If you’re anything like me (long legs and even longer torso), then it can sometimes be nearly impossible to find jeans catered to our height. At 5'11", I’m not ashamed to say that I’ve struggled with the difficulties my height brings, especially when it comes to clothes. It’s taken me five years, dozens of ill-fitted jeans and multiple random TikToks, but I think I’ve finally nailed down an algorithm to find jeans that match my height. Check out these recommendations in different styles of jeans that will have you feeling confident in your height!

Baggy Jeans

Baggy jeans have always been my everyday style since they typically have longer leg lengths to fit the baggy look. Most brands that sell baggy jeans make them longer, so it's often easier to find jeans that fit taller girls.

High-Waisted Baggy Wide-Leg Trouser Jeans: Old Navy is my go-to store when it comes to shopping for jeans, especially because all of their jeans offer a tall size. Their high-waisted baggy wide-leg jeans offer the perfect blend of style, comfort and length. Even though they’ll ride higher on your waist, they still fall beneath your ankle in a way that would drag for most girls but fit perfectly for tall ones.

Mid-Rise Baggy Wide-Leg Cargo Jeans: Another Old Navy favorite is their mid-rise wide-leg cargo jeans, perfect if you prefer cargo pants and ankle length jeans. These don't ride as high, so they'll fall a bit longer than high-waist.

Tall Wide Leg Dad Jeans in Blue Black: ASOS is another great example of a brand that features jeans specifically in a tall size, such as their wide leg dad jeans. I highly recommend ASOS for their long lasting quality as well as the variety of colors this style offers.

Casey Low Rise Baggy Jeans Medium Indigo: PacSun’s baggy jeans are always great, especially for taller girls. Most of them tend to run long, like their low-rise baggy jeans if you tend to prefer the waistband sitting lower.

Bootcut Jeans

Bootcut jeans are my all time favorite style of jeans, but they can be so difficult to find for my height. Most typically fall right above my ankles if not right at them, and I tend to prefer jeans that reach past my ankles so I can wear heels and boots.

Violet Rinse-Wash Flared Jeans: Mango can be hit or miss when it comes to jeans because I’m often not a fan of the rougher material most of their jeans feature. However, their violet flared jeans have a softer cotton feel and are the perfect length for heeled boots in the winter.

High Rise '70s Flare Jeans: Gap, while a bit more expensive, also has a fair few bootcut jeans, although they’re labeled as flare jeans. The high rise ‘70s jeans are offered in a tall size, which helps since they’re also high waisted but still fall below your ankles.

Soft-Tech Good Classic Slim Bootcut Jeans: If you’re looking for something more high-quality, I recommend Good American. The price reflects the condition of the jeans, and these classic bootcut jeans have a 33.5 inch inseam (i.e. they’re incredibly long).

The Tall Boot Jean: Ann Taylor offers many jeans in a tall size, the tall bootcut included. These feature in a faded black color with a five pocket style if you’re looking for a color outside the typical denim.

Straight Leg Jeans

Straight leg jeans are the most common type of jeans typically worn during your everyday grocery run or casual hangout with girlfriends at the mall. They tend to be the most difficult to find for tall girls since they don’t have a set length and lately, have been featured in a cropped style that don’t exactly fit as well for those with longer legs.

90s Women's Jeans: Levi’s, the god of all jean brands, has hundreds if not thousands of different straight leg jeans. I prefer their ‘90s style, which is offered in different lengths and is classified as ‘very big’ by other customers.

High Rise True Straight Leg Jean: Wrangler is another well known, if not slightly less popular, denim brand with all kinds of jeans. Their true straight leg jeans are offered in three different heights, and I recommend this brand if you’re a tall girl who prefers her jeans at her ankles instead of past them.

High-Rise Straight Jean: The Banana Republic jeans I prefer might be a bit controversial, but I know a lot of tall girls also like to wear cropped styles. These high-rise straight jeans come in a regular size and fall just above your ankle in a more casual cut that can be dressed up with a blazer or down with a t-shirt.

Stretch Super High-Waisted Straight Jean: American Eagle also tends to be tall girl friendly, and their super high-waisted straight jeans fit great in the long size option they offer.

Skinny Jeans

Skinny jeans are not my cup of tea, and I would have preferred to leave them back in 2016. But once again, they’re on the rise in popularity, and even tall girls want in.

Alexa Mid Rise Skinny: Mavi’s skinny jeans come with inseams ranging from 28 to 32 inches coming down right past your ankle. They’re mid-rise and consist of a super soft material that could almost pass as jeggings.

High Rise True Skinny Jeans: Gap’s true skinny jeans are a bit shorter, coming right above the ankle. But their length is perfect to wear with ankle boots or long boots in the fall and winter for a dinner out or a casual birthday party.

Uni Fit High Rise Skinny: Lucky Brand offers shorter skinny jeans if you want something that stops before your ankles in a bit more of a ruched look. They come in a global grey color using one size fits many technology to generate sizes for all girls.

High-Rise Skinny Jeans: Mango’s skinny jeans are also ankle length with full length and high waist if you want to pair them with cropped tops and sweaters. The 98% cotton material ensures that this pair of skinny jeans will be soft on your skin, another jegging wanna be.
