The beauty of fashion is that trends keep coming back around, and when they do, we always find modern twists to make the classics more interesting. This time around, we’re celebrating the comeback of flare jeans. These bottoms bring the best of both skinny and baggy jeans—more fitted at the waist and hips, and a relaxed look below the knee.
Like we said, the beauty of trends that come back is there is always a modern twist to them. In this case, we’re leaning into the minimalist, clean girl aesthetic with these jeans, pairing them with our favorite accessories and trending color palettes. We’ve found our favorite ways to style these jeans and are sharing some tips and tricks on how you can recreate these looks.
This is my go-to look for an everyday work outfit or if I just need something to look more effortlessly put together. The best part is, it's an easy outfit to put together with wardrobe staples I already have on hand. The key to this look is to find well-fitted jeans and a shirt. When it comes to jeans, I always lean towards something high-waisted so that I can wear a more relaxed fitted shirt but still have a more flattering shape. Another way to switch up this look is to swap a button-down shirt with a button down cardigan for a more soft and feminine look.
While we’re at the tail end of the winter, it’s still chilly enough on some days to style a nice long coat. One of my favorite looks is the mix of a long coat with high-waisted jeans. The length on both of them creates a nice elongated silhouette that looks flattering, especially if you’re a petite girly like me. This paired with a pair of pointed-toe boots makes for a great everyday outfit.
The beloved going out look is making a comeback. For the longest time, the ideal Friday night look was jeans and a going-out top, and not only is it back, but its back with a modern flare. In the last few years, the key to fashion has been minimalism. Going out tops tend to be more simple in color or pattern, but we’ve seen them embrace more fun in their silhouettes or with different necklines and fabrics.
The key to creating a cohesive outfit is balance. For me, this is usually a balance of weight and shape, which is why I love pairing flare jeans with something that has a little more weight and shape, like a chunky sweater. Since they’re more fitted around the hips and waist, and loose below the knee, a good way to balance that out is to mirror the loose fit with the top.
