The 82nd Golden Globes took place at the very beginning of the year. While this award ceremony celebrates the best in film and TV, we also love tuning in to see the best in fashion. This year we saw some similar themes and styles that we absolutely love. While the event is more glamorous there are no rules that say you can’t incorporate some of this glam in your everyday style. Here are some of our favorite looks and how to recreate them.
We can’t talk about our favorite looks from the Golden Globes without mentioning Selena Gomez’s modern Cinderella look. Everything about it screams elegance, from the satin off-shoulder to the slick bob in her hair. Apart from Gomez, Jean Smart was styled a modern Fairy Godmother look with her Violet Blue gown. If you’re looking to recreate these looks, muted blue tones are key. For Gomez’s look consider a more feminine off-the-shoulder sweater paired with a satin skirt or satin dress as a nod to her look. With Smart’s outfit, something like a blazer or a deep neckline like this ruched top from Lulus can give you that more mature and sophisticated look.
Many celebrities were pulling out pieces from the archives leaning into the vintage looks. Anya Taylor-Joy was fashioning a soft feminine Archival Dior with a wrap draped around her arms. Meanwhile, Margret Qualley was wearing a timeless Chanel, with a square neck and a black and white color palette. When recreating these looks elegance is in the simplicity. For the Chanel look, opt for square necks and more fitted silhouettes. As for the Dior, soft and feminine are key with light pinks and silky fabrics.
Nothing says glam like gold. Many stars walked the carpet adorned in shades of gold, from champagne to olive-toned gold. There are so many ways to create an everyday glam version of these looks. Leaning into shinier fabrics like silk help create that metallic effect. We were also really inspired by the flowy finish of Ariana Grande’s gown, which can be recreated with this midi skirt from Banana Republic. While it may seem too luxurious for an everyday outfit, it doesn’t hurt to have an everyday glam moment every once in a while.
Another trend we saw with many looks included more exaggerated silhouettes, especially around the hips. Stars like Emma Stone and Kristen Bell were styling dresses that were fitted throughout the length with an extra pop around the hip. When I saw this, it immediately took me back to the days of peplum tops, which give the same effect of a cinched waist and pop around the hips. Outside of this, bubble skirts have really had their moment over the summer, and create a similar effect if you’re trying to create the everyday Golden Globe glam.
