Gazette Gal

As the weather cools down and the warm-colored foliage grows, there’s no better time to be out and about sporting the newest styles than fall. This season is all about comfort and nostalgia for our style. As it grows colder, it's all about the layers and colors that blend the warm with the cold. Some trends are simply an ode to styles from the summer while others give a nod to looks from Falls past. Here are some of our favorites we’ve noticed on the runways and the streets, and how you can include them in your wardrobe for the season.

Burgundy Looks

A new twist on the classic fall red, Burgundy made its way onto the runway back in spring. Brands like Bottega Veneta and Prada styled looks centered around this color all throughout the year. But we really get to see burgundy shine in the fall as the deeper tone is a great color to add to the muted palette we normally see during this season. Whether it’s a simple pop of color in your shoes or creating a statement blazer that centers your look around this color, this shade will be a staple in our closet for the colder months.

Sling-back kitten heels made their way into everyone’s summer looks and the burgundy sling-backs from Mango a great way to give a nod to that in the fall. These could be paired with a cute skirt and some tights or worn with a pair of jeans and a knit sweater. They’re a great way to elevate any outfit with a touch of fall.

Leopard Print

This fall, we’re seeing another revival of the long loved leopard print. This trend dates all the way back to the 1920s, where it first started and throughout history has made its way back in so many forms showing the versatility of it. While many people hung up their leopard skirts five years ago when they were last in fashion, we’re getting ready to bring them back out. The maximalist nature of the print can be intimidating, but for those of us who enjoy a loud look, this is a great time to break out the all leopard print look. But for those of us who just want to dip our toes in the animal print pond, simple accessories like bags or shoes are a great way to pay homage to the print of the season.

This leopard print denim skirt is a fun twist to add into your fall wardrobe. The asymmetrical buttons work with the playfulness of the leopard print, giving you a fun fall look. You can dress them up with a pair of knee-high boots and your favorite going out top or dress them down with some white sneakers and a comfy knit sweater, making it a very versatile staple for your closet.

Boho Revival

This 70s’ style has made its way back this year with a modern twist. In the summer, we’d see flowy dresses inspired by shows like “Daisy Jones & The Six” or in the many music festivals during the warm season. Now, we’re bringing this trend into the fall through layers, frills, and ruffles. The return of the boho aesthetic this fall is a great example of how we revive old trends with a sense of maturity. Many designers are referring to this revival as a great way of embracing the feminine look with power and beauty. A great way to incorporate this look in your wardrobe this fall could be with a simple fringe jacket or pair of boots. Or to truly embrace the free spirited nature of the aesthetic, consider adding a ruffle dress or blouses to your fall looks.

This fringe blazer is a great way of showcasing the revival of old trends this fall with a modern and mature twist. The jacket still carries the maturity of a classic blazer or coat, but the fringe detail creates that boho aesthetic we’ll be seeing more of this fall.

Waist Belts

A key accessory we’ll be adding to complete our looks is a waist belt. This trend isn’t quite one we’ve seen on the runway, but more in our day-to-day out on the streets. Fall is a time for layers and building a look through your favorite coats and jackets. This is a great way to redefine the shape of the look and not get lost in the layers. It’s also a great way to pair other fall trends, by adding that pop of burgundy we’ll be seeing more of or even a touch of leopard print.

We love this Llanito stretch belt as a go-to belt for any look. The dark brown is a great fall color that works with any look. It’s a great statement accessory, but is still so simple and elegant. The stretch webb strap is makes it easy to sit over bigger jackets or thicker materials, but still gives a more tailored look to your body.

Cozy Textures

Fall is synonymous with cozy fabrics like corduroy and suede. Not only is the softness of these fabrics a cozy way to cover up and stay warm, but it’s versatile enough to incorporate in different parts of your look. These fabrics are timeless and make their way into our fall wardrobe every year, but this year we’re seeing new ways to incorporate the softness of these fabrics with our other favorite trends. Looking back at the resurgence of the boho aesthetic, we’re leaning into the western look with suede fringed jackets or boots. Perhaps consider adding a burgundy corduroy jacket as one of your layers for extra warmth and comfort.

Corduroy is always a classic in the fall. These high-rise pants create a really flattering length while also being comfortable with the wide leg. We would pair this with some cute Chelsea boots and nice oversized jacket. They’re timeless so don’t be surprised if these make a comeback next fall too.

Most fashion connoisseurs will tell you that fall is the best time to celebrate style. The in-between season blends the warm and the cold, allowing us to play around with accessories and layers in new ways. With the new trends we’re seeing this fall, we get to blend our nostalgia for previous trends with a modern twist.
