Here, we’ve broken down our most beloved picks to grab while they’re hot — stories that center on enrapturing narratives, powerful women, and relatable (but poignant) truths. Find our favorites below!

The Woman in Me, Britney Spears

The icon’s revelatory tale lets you relive the early aughts while discovering the stories behind your favorite Britney hits. In a heart-wrenching, poignant tale, the pop star divulges her experiences behind some of pop culture's most publicized scandals and devastating tragedies. It’s an absolute must-read for anyone looking to understand the truth behind celebrity culture and the entertainment industry. Spears negotiated a stunning $15 million deal for the critically acclaimed memoir, with the book selling over two million copies in the U.S. alone.

The Fraud, Zadie Smith

The acclaimed author's first work of historical fiction topped bestseller lists and made it to Oprah's book club. The novel explores the tale of a Scottish abolitionist and Jamaican former slave who find themselves embroiled in one of London's most famous society scandals — where a bankrupt Australian butcher claimed to be the long-lost heir to the grand Tichborne estate and fortune. Featuring a fictionalized Charles Dickens, the work explores the nature of Britain’s class system and culture with Smith’s trademark zaniness and tongue-in-cheek writing style.

Absolution by Alice McDermott

Exploring the often overlooked perspective of the American wife during the Vietnam war, the story links an attorney and homemaker's retrospective attempts to reconcile their earnest volunteer and service work in Saigon with their husband’s contributions to the tragedy of the war’s civilian deaths. Exploring themes of politics, war, sacrifice, and absolution, the riveting novel was a 2024 PEN/Faulkner Award finalist and featured in best-of shortlists by Esquire, NPR, Vogue, and the Los Angeles Times.

Last House by Jessica Shattuck

This rich, complex family saga details the story of a World War II veteran and his family who purchases a house deep in the mountains of Vermont, far from the troubles and nuclear scares of 20th century life. As Katherine, the protagonist, grows up and leaves her idyllic, isolated childhood behind, she struggles to reconcile her idealistic beliefs with the increasingly radical changes brought by the 60s and 70s social movements. Spanning eighty years, the tale is a narrative of disruption, inheritance, idealism, and the downfall of empires.

Memory Piece by Lisa Ko

Named one of Vogue’s Best Books of 2024, the novel follows three Asian teenagers and artistic collaborators who find themselves navigating polar opposite social classes and worlds during adulthood, struggling to balance their optimism for the future with building satisfying lives in a structurally imperfect world. Called "refreshingly girl-centric" with "wholly alive" characters, the novel explores the downside of long-held ideals in the innovations of social activism, fine art performance, and the internet, all through the various subcultures and changes of the 80s, 90s, and fantasy 2040s.

Considered one of the most globally beloved books ever written, this particular Barnes & Noble Classic Edition features a beautifully wrapped, foil-stamped binding, sure to endure for years to come.
